The aim of the "Managing Multimodal Transport Chains" course in the "Sector Management" Master's degree is to train future managers to work in transport companies, logistics service providers and industrial and commercial companies that manage their own flows, as well as in local authorities seeking to improve the mobility offer or structure logistics and services;they will also work for local authorities seeking to improve the mobility offer or to structure logistics and transport in their areas. The role of these professionals will be to design, manage and improve transport chains, taking account of economic, environmental and social issues. To do this, they will need to understand their environment, as well as the organisational and technological innovations likely to improve performance. They will also need to be able to engage in innovative projects in collaboration with all the players involved (research, industry, local authorities, users/company decision-makers).

Organization and alternation
The course accommodates 24 students in Master 1 and Master 2. It is only part-time in :
- transport, logistics services, industrial or commercial companies managing their national or international transport chains themselves.

Thesis and supervised project
During the course, students individually and collectively complete a variety of assignments:
- In Master 1, a project is carried out. Its purpose is to provide organisational and technological solutions à a problematic defined with the company in which the sandwich course takes place. This gives rise to the drafting and oral presentation of a company report
- In Master 2, in the first semester, a « multimodal transport hackaton » puts candidates in a transport research office situation for 6 months. Based on a set of specifications, the aim is to propose a multimodal solution that optimises the parameters (sustainable performance, flow management methods, risk management, etc.) of a client (a company or local authority)
- At the end of the training cycle, a professional dissertation is presented. By developing a research approach, the aim is to present a reflection initiated in Master 1 on an innovative problem that highlights a particular situation, a salient issue or a problem identified in the company

During the two years of training, they are prepared for the TOEIC with the organisation of 4 mock TOEICs. A minimum level is required for the final exam.

The master's degree is structured into 4 competences:
- Knowing and analysing the business environment and strategies
- Designing multimodal transport chains
- Piloting multimodal transport chains
- Transforming multimodal transport chains
Cross-disciplinary activities (improvement project, Hackaton, professional dissertation) enable candidates, by also relying on an innovative technological device (transport management cell coupling transport management software mobilised in companies à flow mapping and simulation tools), to mobilise the knowledge acquired à the IUT and in companies.
At the end of the course, an audit of the position(s) held during the course is used to complete a skills assessment to prepare for future recruitment interviews and their career management.

Candidate profile
Candidates will come from BUT, Professional Licences or Tertiary Licences or, possibly secondary. The candidate's professional project in relation to the content and purpose of the diploma will be the particular subject of discussion by the course leaders.
